-Design of meta-materials compatible with the injection / read-out of electric current in semiconductor devices.
-Clean-room fabrication of semiconductor quantum well based absorbing regions inserted into metamaterials
- Optical and electrical characterization of devices in cryogenic conditions. The optical characterizations consist of reflectivity measurements by FTIR spectroscopy. The electrical characterizations consist of measurements of photo-current spectra, responsivity measurements, and characterization of the noise of the detectors.

The post-doc's mission is to design, fabricate and characterize quantum infrared detectors inserted into electromagnetic metamaterials resonators. These resonators behave as very high frequency capacitance-inductive circuits with strongly reduced capacitive parts (M. Jeannin, et al ACS Photonics 6, 1207-1215 (2019)). In this type of geometry, one expects strong suppression of the detector dark current with respect to the photo-current signal, and an increased operating temperature. The first mission of the post-doc is to validate this concept. In a second phase our objectives are to study such devices in ultra-strong light-material coupling regime.

The post-doc will be supported through the FETFLAG project “Qombs”, which will explore frequency combs obtained from quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) operating in the mid-infrared part (wavelengths between 4 microns < and 10 microns) of the electromagnetic spectrum. The post-doc candidate will have the opportunity to work in a scientific environment of research excellence in the heart of Paris, with top class facilities. Furthermore, the FETFLAG consortium unites top scientific and industrial institutions in the field of MIR optoelectronics, will provide further career opportunities after the completion of the post-doc project.

Eligibility criteria

-Clean room fabrication: optical and electrical lithography, dry etching (ICP), all process needed for III-V semiconductor devices fabrication.
- Concepts on the characterization of detectors (photo-current measurements, responsivity, detectivity ...)
