<p><strong>Science and Public Affairs Director</strong></p>
<p>Do you want to help realise our vision of a world where human diseases are cured faster without animal suffering?</p>
<p>Animal Free Research UK has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced public affairs leader with a scientific background to develop a new public affairs workstream at the charity. Working closely with the Chief Executive, the postholder will play a leading role in achieving Animal Free Research UK's strategic goal, making a significant impact that accelerates the discovery and delivery of effective treatments for human diseases and results in fewer animals used in medical research. Main duties will include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Owning the delivery of the Animal Free Research UK public affairs and science strategy</li>
<li>Providing public affairs and science expertise to CEO and Trustees and acting as a spokesperson for the charity</li>
<li>Owning the charity’s grants portfolio, working with the Scientific Advisory Panel to ensure the charity funds excellent high impact animal free research</li>
<li>Working with colleagues across the charity to expand our range of science products, events and programmes to enable an animal free research career path</li>
<li>Establishing and growing the charity’s public affairs function to influence the implementation of robust legislation that supports the take-up of animal free research</li>
<li>Engaging with an extensive range of decision-makers and stakeholders to overcome the barriers to animal free research in academia and industry</li>
<li>Ensuring the charity’s output is underpinned by robust science and reasoned argument</li>
</ul>
