Two PhD positions are available in the framework of the ERC-Starting Grant SENSE, Grant Agreement no 851179. The research, supported by the European Research Council, will be carried out at the CICA research center, in A Coruña (Spain), and involves the design of peptide-based building blocks to obtain stimuli-responsive self- assembled nanostructures for their application in different biological scenarios.

The work will be carried out under the supervision of Dr. Elena Pazos (http://www.epazoslab.es/) at CICA (https://cica.udc.es).PhD 1: The proposed PhD research will focus on the preparation, functionalization and characterization of stimuli-responsive nanostructures.

Required qualifications and experience:

A degree in Chemistry, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, or related area is required. Experience in the fields of synthetic and supramolecular chemistry, nanomaterials, and microscopy is highly desirable.

The candidates are expected to have interest in multidisciplinary work and motivation to learn from a diversity of scientific areas. Good interpersonal skills are required and good written and oral communication skills in English are highly desired.

Conditions:

The position is for 4 years, starting in February 2020.

 

PhD 2: The proposed PhD research will focus on the preparation and application of stimuli-responsive nanostructures in biological settings.

Required qualifications and experience:

A degree in Biotechnology, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, or related area is required. Experience in the fields of nanomaterials, biomedicine, and/or biotechnology is highly recommended.

The candidates are expected to have interest in multidisciplinary work and motivation to learn from a diversity of scientific areas. Good interpersonal skills are required and good written and oral communication skills in English are highly desired.

Conditions:

The position is for 4 years, starting in February 2020.
