Basic function of the role:
A research scientist at post-doctorate level is required in this platform to develop new approaches for next generation DNA sequencing based (and other Omics-based) analysis in a new National Centre in the Food-Agri-ICT area. The researcher will need to stay abreast of the latest developments in DNA sequencing research and investigate/apply those of relevance. This role will also require close interactions with colleagues and projects where DNA sequence data needs to be generated for microbiome or genomic (animal, plant) analysis. This will include engaging with collaborators at the Tyndall (sensors), TSSG (communications) and Insight (data analytics) centres.
Duties & Responsibilities specific to this project:
•To monitor and conduct a specific programme of research and scholarship.
•Work closely within a team of researchers and Pls from Teagasc and partner institutions.
•Perform a vitro digestion assays and associated investigation of impacts on the gut microbiome.
•Carry out investigations relating to the pre-digestion (i.e. fermentation) of dairy substrates.
•Preparation of research manuscripts for high impacting peer review journals.
•Participate in Education and Outreach activities.

•Relevant research experience not to exceed 3 years’ post-PhD.
